Camp Lowman is nestled in the beautiful Virginia hillsides secluded in nature's habitat near Smith Mountain Lake -- approximately 1 hour east of Roanoke; 45 Minutes southwest of Lynchburg; and 1.5 hours north of Danville.

Presently the campground provides a variety of meeting options with classroom capacities ranging from 40 to 135. The auditorium will seat 500 people. A separate office provides a spacious facility for staff coordination and operations. All indoor facilities are air-conditioned. An amphitheater, equipped with lighting and sound, is located somewhat apart from the rest of the camp facilities. The view from this structure is one of nature: trees, mountains, and sky.

The camp will accomadate 210 campers in 15 air-conditioned cabins including one that is handicapped accessible. Provisions for staff members include five air-conditioned cabins with a capicity of 75 and two multi-room dorms designed for coordination/directors. The sick bay is equipped with five beds and a nurse's station.

The kitchen facility is fully equipped with a commercial gas stove, a commercial dishwasher, warming trays, freezers, refrigerators, commercial ice maker, large storage areas, and a large, cafeteria-style serving area. The dining area will seat 175. There is a covered walkway between the auditorium and the dining hall. A separate area under the dining hall houses a snack stand and cafe.

For the campers' enjoyment, there are softball and soccer fields, a volleyball court, shuffleboard courts, one outside basketball court, a lighted pool and horseshoe pits. A 6000 square foot recreation building provides 4 basketball courts, 3 ping-pong tables, 2 foosball tables, and an air hockey table. A separate storage facility houses equipment for various games and outside activities. The campground is well lit for night activities and security.

Camp Lowman provides an all-season setting for summer camps, day camps, retreats, reunions, banquets, weddings, conventions, and organizational bonding.

Follow 24 East for approximately 8 minutes you will come to a stop sign, take a right following 24 East/43 South for about 3 minutes then take a right following 43 South towards Altavista for approximately 5 minutes. From Highway 29, take Altavista exit VA 43, go 8 miles toward Leesville. From

Lynchburg take a left on Rt. 811 by Sheetz, follow until it merges to Rt. 709. At intersection with Rt. 24, take right to 24 West, take left on Rt. 707 toward
Smith
Mountain
Lake , take left on Rt. 43 South. Campground is located 3 minutes on the left.
