History is etched in stone and cannot be corrected, changed, improved or re-written. Just as our family ancestry is of interest, so is our church family heritage. 

For years I have dreamed about having a church history archives for the state of Virginia. During those years I was busy collecting books, pictures and other memorabilia relative to the Church in Virginia. 

Much of the collection came from my grandfather, W.M. Lowman, who was state overseer of Virginia for thirty-two years. Also, I was blessed to receive many artifacts from my uncle Dudley Lowman, who was a faithful minister in the state. Finally, my father, Horace Vernon, who was a pastor in the state for many years, left several items of interest. This site is dedicated to the memory of these great men and to all of the faithful men and women who ministered from the early beginnings of the Church of God of Prophecy in Virginia.

The purpose of this site is not to take us back to the past but to remind us of the sacrifices and commitments of previous generations, with the hope that future generations leave a great legacy of their own.

The final challenge was finding a way to share these memories with others who share an interest in the history of our state. Thanks to Chad Lambert, who spent many hours setting up the web site on Virginia’s web page, we now have free access to those interested in viewing.
