Tree of Life Ministries

Pastor Mike Dodson, Sr. and his wife, Debie, along with their four children, founded Tree of Life Ministries on March 25, 1990. Tree of Life Ministries was chartered with the Appalachian Conference of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church in April of 1990 with seventeen original members. The first location was a rented storefront in Timbrook Square Shopping Center. Today, Tree of Life Ministries is a thriving pentecostal church reaching the world for Christ.

ILLUMINATE

Matthew 5:16 calls us to “let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Too often, the creative gifts God has planted in our young people remain hidden or underdeveloped.

ILLUMINATE creates pathways for these talents and gifts to be recognized, nurtured, and directed toward Kingdom purposes.

Why ILLUMINATE?

Our heart is to help youth and young adults find support and mentorship in the following areas:

  • Music & Voice: Instrumentalists, vocalists, worship leaders, songwriters

  • Drama & Dance: Performers, scriptwriters, choreographers

  • Visual Arts: Painting, drawing, graphic design, photography

  • Digital Media: Web design, video production, social media ministry

  • Spoken Word: Preaching, teaching, poetry, public speaking

  • Service Leadership: Community outreach, event planning, missions

As someone who knows your congregation intimately, you play a crucial role in identifying these gifts. Your nominations will help us connect talented youth with mentors, resources, and opportunities that can help them develop their abilities for God’s glory. Feel free to nominate as many as you would like to do.

About VA State Convention

Virginia’s fourth overseer, J.A. Davis, was appointed by A.J. Tomlinson in the year of 1919. He moderated the first state convention that year held in Pulaski, Virginia. Churches in Minaret, Pulaski, Gunton Park, Newport, Danville, Altavista, South Norfolk and Parrot were represented by about five ministers in attendance. This July hundreds will gather representing churches across Virginia to worship, fellowship and conduct business of the Virginia Church of God of Prophecy.
